November is such a fun month to be in a kindergarten classroom. There aren’t many days in the month with Thanksgiving break, Veteran’s Day, and our parent-teacher conference schedules. But it makes the days we are together that much more meaningful.
My favorite books to read in November center around these themes:
– being grateful and thankful for the people and things we have in our lives
– helping others and giving back go our community
– the changing seasons
– Native American family traditions
– Diwali
And the best books to fit within these themes are:
Old Bear by Kevin Henkes
Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano
Fletcher and the Falling Leaves by Julia Rawlinson
Thankful by Eileen Spinelli
Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Peña
Binny’s Diwali by Thrity Umrigar
Fry Bread by Kevin Noble Mailard
The Scarecrow by Beth Ferry
Sofia Valdez, Future Prez by Andrea Beaty
Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts
The links above will send you to
my interactive read aloud resources. Please note that they do not come
with the book, and the book is necessary to use the resource. And to save B I G on the November Interactive Read Aloud Bundle, C L I C K H E R E !
Happy reading! 🙂
